Original project and compatible apps
A database you manage
The project documents encrypted databases, grouped entries, a password generator, Auto-Type and import/export. Its downloads page offers installer and portable editions and distinguishes contributed or unofficial ports. Choosing an Android or iOS app from that list does not transfer the original project’s pricing, privacy policy or support commitments to it. ATN has not installed the software or tested extensions. Free software and separate services
Commercial use is permitted under the license
The official FAQ says KeePass is free and can be used in companies; donations are voluntary. KeePass 2.x uses GPL version 2 or later. A paid third-party mobile app, hosting service, support contract or extension can have its own cost and conditions. Do not treat those separate charges as an official KeePass subscription. [3] [4]
Storage, keys and backups
Local control comes with responsibility
The project’s FAQ says it does not provide a centralized password-storage service, although KeePass 2.x can work with a file at a server URL. Any cloud synchronization or backup provider therefore needs its own assessment. Key files should be protected separately from the database. Binding a database to a Windows user account introduces additional recovery requirements; the keys guide cautions against casual use. Our editorial advice is to verify recovery before retiring an old device and protect exported credentials. [3] [5]

Supporting development is not earning commission
The official donation page funds project development and describes contributor acknowledgments. That is not a cash affiliate program.
