BUILD HOSTING & DOMAINS
DigitalOcean.
Cloud virtual machines for websites and applications, with separate managed database, storage, and application-platform services.
THE BASICS
What it offers
DigitalOcean provides cloud infrastructure for developers and website operators. Droplets are virtual machines, with bundled plans and separately configurable v5 options. Managed databases, storage, and App Platform are separate services with their own pricing and terms. [1] [2] [4]
Cloud virtual machines
Use Droplets to run websites, applications, and backend services.
Resource choices
Choose shared or dedicated CPU plans according to the workload.
Separate cloud services
Managed databases, storage, and App Platform extend the infrastructure.
What stands out
- Bundled CPU plans publish both hourly rates and monthly caps.
- The billing documentation explains when charges start and stop.
What to weigh up
- Powering off a Droplet does not stop billing; the resource must be deleted.
- Configuration, application security, and backups remain responsibilities to plan for.
ATN’s observations from published information. Performance, support quality, and ease of use have not been independently tested.
KNOW THE FULL COST
Pricing snapshot
The Basic Regular CPU table lists $4.00 USD per month for 512 MiB RAM, 1 vCPU, 10 GiB SSD, and 500 GiB transfer. The 1 GiB RAM, 25 GiB SSD plan is $6.00 per month. These are bundled-plan monthly caps, not all-inclusive website packages.
Bundled CPU Droplets bill per second, with a minimum of 60 seconds or $0.01, whichever is higher, and a 672-hour monthly cap. v5 plans have different billing. Additional outbound transfer is $0.01 per GiB; optional services and applicable taxes add to the bill. Charges continue while a Droplet is powered off.

Content & affiliate policies
Content eligibility: confirm the chosen service
DigitalOcean’s AUP prohibits unlawful content, nonconsensual intimate material, infringement, and abuse. Its terms also remove legacy free-bandwidth promotions from accounts used for adult or pornographic services; that provision concerns the promotion, not a blanket hosting ban. ATN has not verified universal adult-content approval. Confirm your specific product and use with the provider. [3] [4]
Affiliate program: Awin enrollment and approval
The official signup link leads to Awin, whose DigitalOcean program lists 10% recurring commission for a paying customer’s first 12 months and a 30-day attribution window. DigitalOcean’s landing-page copy still mentions CJ, so check the actual enrollment terms. Minimum payout, payment timing, adult-site eligibility, and ATN approval have not been verified. No tracking links are used here. [5] [6] [7]
Customer referrals: account credit, not cash
The separate customer referral program gives the referring team $25 in credit once a referred customer spends and pays for $25 of usage. The credit cannot be cashed out or transferred to another team, and teams belonging to an organization are excluded. This is separate from the cash affiliate program. [8]
