WhatsApp review.

Straightforward personal messaging, with separate rules for business use.

Based on official documentation. Hands-on testing: not performed. Numeric rating: not assigned.

EDITORIAL ASSESSMENT

Our take

WhatsApp is a practical option for ordinary personal conversations when the other people already use it. It should not be treated as an automatically suitable sales channel for an adult business. The consumer service, business policies, and backup settings answer different questions and deserve separate attention.

A good fit for

People who want everyday personal messages, file sharing, and calls with existing contacts.

Think twice if

You plan adult-product or adult-service promotion, unauthorized bulk messaging, or assume every stored backup has the same protection as a live conversation.

Strengths & limitations

What stands out

  • The personal app combines text, photos, video, documents, and voice calls. Its mobile page also documents video calls and linked-device access. [1] [2]
  • Blocking and reporting tools provide ways to stop unwanted contact and flag problematic accounts. [3]

What to weigh up

  • WhatsApp for Business prohibits buying, selling, promoting, or facilitating exchange of adult products and services. Its messaging policy also requires recipient opt-in. Encryption does not override those restrictions. [4]
  • Consumer terms prohibit obscene and impermissible communications and non-personal use unless authorized. Moving a business workflow to a personal account does not establish permission. [5]
  • An official Help Center search excerpt says Google Account backups lack WhatsApp end-to-end encryption unless encrypted backup is enabled. The full help page did not return readable text in this check; verify the setting in your account. [6]

What it costs

WhatsApp describes its personal messaging service as free, with possible data charges. This review does not price Business Platform messages, third-party providers, or paid business features. [1]

Where it fits in your work

Check who is in a conversation before sharing information, review linked devices, and decide what belongs in a backup. The recipient can still retain or share what they receive; encryption is not a substitute for choosing the right audience.

What this review does not establish

We have not audited encryption, tested backup restoration, measured call quality, or assessed business integrations. This review establishes no approval for adult-commerce messaging.

Product claims and published prices can change. The check date records when we read the sources; it is not a safety certification.

Affiliate & referral status

No general WhatsApp cash-referral offer or ATN affiliate arrangement was verified. A business provider’s own partner program would be a separate offer requiring its own research. All article links are direct with no affiliate tracking.
