QuickBooks Time review.
Team timekeeping with a required QuickBooks Online account and a phased move away from the classic interface.
Based on official documentation. Hands-on testing: not performed. Numeric rating: not assigned.
Our take
QuickBooks Time is a candidate for ordinary team timekeeping when a business already needs the QuickBooks ecosystem. We would compare the complete ongoing cost and the team’s privacy requirements before adopting it. For someone who only needs a basic timer, the required account and administration may be more than the task calls for.
A good fit for
Businesses coordinating authorized staff time and schedules, especially when QuickBooks is already part of their workflow.
Think twice if
You only need a solo timer, assume the displayed base fee is the entire bill, or have not agreed on workplace location collection.
Strengths & limitations
What stands out
- Intuit describes timesheets, scheduling, and mobile work within the newer QuickBooks Online experience. The migration article says groups receive advance email notice and that migration itself does not change their subscription price. [2]
What to weigh up
- The transition is phased. The article says the first group loses the classic link in September and that the classic site will retire later; it does not establish that every account has already migrated. Some time-off workflows are still described as remaining in classic Time. [2]
- The Workforce app can record location while staff are clocked in, and Elite includes plan-dependent geofencing. Location visibility is a meaningful workplace decision, especially around private home addresses. [3] [2]
What it costs
The current page shows standard Premium at a $20 monthly base plus $10 per user, and Elite at $40 plus $12 per user. One administrator is included. An introductory base discount is shown separately. Confirm the required QuickBooks Online cost, user counting, taxes, currency, and the ongoing total. [1]
The page contains Time-specific trial FAQs and separate QuickBooks Online/Workforce offer conditions. Those products have different fee and trial language; we do not treat every new subscription as the same no-charge trial. [1]
Where it fits in your work
Agree on time and location collection, who can see it, and when it should stop. Check a few timesheets against known work records before using them in an operational process. A timekeeping feature does not establish eligibility for a separate payment-processing product.
What this review does not establish
No payroll, location tracking, migration, or subscription was tested. Current data-retention controls, a particular account’s migration date, sensitive-business eligibility, and a final checkout total remain unverified. No payroll savings claim is adopted.
Product claims and published prices can change. The check date records when we read the sources; it is not a safety certification.
Affiliate & referral status
Intuit’s overview distinguishes the US business affiliate route, publisher participation through Commission Junction, and an ambassador program. It does not verify one Time-specific rate for every applicant. Product eligibility, commission, attribution, payout, and adult-traffic acceptance need the selected agreement. ATN has no approved relationship or personal tracking link. [5]
