Namecheap review.

Evaluate the domain renewal price separately from hosting.

EDITORIAL ASSESSMENT

Our take

Namecheap is a reasonable domain-registration candidate when you want included privacy on an eligible extension and the option to use another DNS provider. The ongoing renewal matters more than the introductory discount. For an adult-industry project, its hosting restrictions are a material reason to evaluate registration and hosting separately.

A good fit for

Businesses comparing a domain purchase while choosing their website host independently.

Think twice if

You are choosing solely on the first-year sale, or intend to use Namecheap hosting for adult content.

Strengths & limitations

What stands out

  • The .com page separates registration, renewal, and transfer prices, making the second-year cost visible. [1]
  • Eligible domains include privacy, and the DNS settings support third-party nameservers. [3] [4]

What to weigh up

  • The listed renewal is higher than the first-year sale, and the applicable ICANN fee is added to the displayed domain amount. [1] [2]
  • Changing between Namecheap and custom nameservers does not automatically copy the DNS records; preserve and recreate the needed configuration. [4]
  • Namecheap’s hosting Acceptable Use Policy prohibits adult-related material, including nudity and pornography, and links or advertisements to such sites. This review does not recommend its hosting for that use. [5]

What it costs

The checked standard .com table lists a US$11.28 first-year sale and US$18.48 annual renewal. Adding the US$0.20 annual ICANN fee gives US$11.48 and US$18.68 respectively, before applicable taxes or optional services. These are dated examples, not a guaranteed checkout offer. [1] [2]

Privacy is free for supported extensions. Premium domains, other extensions, hosting, and optional services need their own quotes. [3] [1]

Where it fits in your work

ATN would shortlist the domain registrar, host, and payment provider independently. A domain pointing to another host does not establish blanket content approval. Privacy limits public contact exposure; it does not remove the need to supply accurate registration details.

What this review does not establish

We have not registered or transferred a domain, changed DNS, tested support, or obtained project-specific content approval. This review assesses domain registration and flags the published hosting restriction; it does not review hosting performance.

Product claims and published prices can change. The check date records when we read the sources; it is not a safety certification.

Affiliate & referral status

Namecheap offers affiliate enrollment and pays for qualifying first purchases by new customers under the selected platform’s terms. Approval is discretionary, and ATN eligibility has not been established. All links in this review are direct and contain no affiliate tracking. [6] [7]
